Blue Dolphins

October is shaping up to be a busy but fun filled month. Your children have been busy in the last month working on their coat of arms as most of you saw during back to school night. Last month was also filled with exploration of the classroom and getting used to being in a new classroom with new teachers. All of the children are excited to be in their new classroom and excited they are now the older ones at the school.

This month we have lots of fall activities planned, we are doing many projects and you will start to see the room transform into a fall have been wondering what the black figures on the

have been wondering what the black figures on the windows in the pre-K room are? They are shadows of your children. The children are learning all about their shadows and exploring what shadows are. We have been using the story of Peter Pan, and the new light room upstairs to further add to the learning process. We will continue with fantasy books until the children have moved on and guided us to a new topic. Some of the other books we are reading are: The Rainbow Goblins, The Paper Bag Princess, and The Real Story of the Three Little Pigs.  We will be planning another trip to the theater at the end of this theme, more details to come.

Purple Sharks

We are focusing on the Alphabet and counting this month. We are doing projects and activities that correspond with the letter that we are doing. In October we will be following the same theme but also incorporating fall projects into the classroom. We will also be talking more about fall weather, and as the rainy season approaches we will learn about the benefits of rain for the environment.

Rainbow Fish

This last month we have really focused on sharing and what is means to have friends. We have also been working on name recognition during group time which we will continue into Oct. We will begin doing fall art projects and we will be talking about weather and the upcoming holiday season, we are really looking forward to our field trips and the fall festival. We will continue to utilize our new light room and explore shadow play with the overhead projector. There are fun things in store for our Rainbow Fish this month; we will also be cooking many fall related items.

Green Turtles

There has been a very small green turtle classroom this month so we have spent most of our time visiting the rainbow fish room. We are planning on having the children return to the Green Turtle class by the end of the month. We are planning many fun projects this month mainly revolving around fall we will also be working on sharing skills which is always an ongoing process. This month we will be cooking, painting, playing in the light room, doing projects and reading stories. We have some special Halloween books to read this month as well. We are looking forward to a great winter as we head into the holiday season.

Axxcess Card Fund Raiser

We are raising funds this winter by selling Axxcess books. They are 30.00 and 10.00 of that money goes directly to the school. If we sell our school goal which is 50 books, we will earn pizza days, and prizes for the school.

If we could sell more than that to friends and family we might even go over our goal which would really contribute to school improvements and programs. Please let your friends, families and coworkers know you have them for sale and let’s sell as many for the school as we can. 100% will go back to the school and the children.

Special Guest Speaker

Fredda Spirka, a well known pregnancy, child, and family educator will be here on October 15th at 5:30 to have an informal discussion on holistic child & family nutrition. Please feel free to invite your friends and family, there is no charge and the more people the better. Please let us know if you are planning on coming, light refreshments will be served. Child care provided with advanced notice.
